La Liga Samoana de Cricket (Samoan Cricket League) de Seattle se forma en 1986, y organiza encuentros de este pasatiempo tan entrañable para la comunidad samoana de Seattle. La liga organiza partidos en el campo Genesee Field de Rainier Valley, pero el alboroto de las ovaciones, la música a gran volumen y las congestiones de tráfico crean demasiados disturbios y forzarán a la liga a mudarse al campo de juegos Jefferson Playfield en Beacon Hill. Pese a ser introducido en Samoa por misioneros británicos, el criquet samoano, o kirikiti, difiere en la cantidad de jugadores y en las reglas del juego. El kirikiti ha adquirido una significación cultural específica, ya que refleja el valor de la comunidad para el pueblo samoano, e incluye canciones y danzas tradicionales.
