HistoryLink, in partnership with 4Culture, is developing an enhanced Study Aids page that will feature valuable curriculum materials and other important resources for educators. In September 2009 we will debut our new page, but between now and then we will be posting new curriculum and resource tool for educators.


Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition Centennial: 1909-2009 Curriculum Materials. Examines themes from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expostion (A-Y-P) by guiding students to investigate and analyze different forms of primary sources. Carefully developed activities encourage elementary and middle school students to explore how the A-Y-P reflected life in the Pacific Northwest 100 years ago and to challenge them to find similarities and differences in life today. NEW! These are Matters of Grave Importance: Cemetery Studies Curriculum Materials for Social Studies Classes. Guides students through activities designed to learn about the history of a community or neighborhood and its residents by researching the primary and secondary sources associated with the local cemetery. Students will develop an appreciation for preserving and maintaining a community landmark. Download below.

Features activities designed to enhance a field trip to the rocky beach by identifying and highlighting the area's important cultural and historical heritage. Students are asked to determine the significance of the beach to the history of Seattle.
