Meeting Recaps2006-2007 Membership YearPreservation and Preservation Initiatives Gary Menges, Preservation Administrator at the University of Washington, presented a two-part program. He first discussed the basics of preservation with an emphasis on planning. Second, after outlining the features of several regional preservation and disaster planning consortia around the country, Gary led a discussion about what local repositories would want and need from such a group if one were created locally. |

Working With Volunteers A great panel discussed issues and answered questions about working with volunteers, including background checks, recruiting, keeping volunteers happy and engaged, and the dreaded question of how to "fire" a volunteer. Panelists were Luci Baker Johnson from Historic Seattle, Carol Buswell from NARA, and Bev Clevenger and Kim Haas, both from the Woodland Park Zoo. |

Archivists and Records Managers Working Together This joint meeting of Seattle Area Archivists and Greater Seattle Chapter of ARMA International addressed how archivists and records managers can work together to build strong programs. The panel included Barbara Benson and John Bolcer, records manager and archivist at the University of Washington; Scott Cline, archivist at the Seattle Municipal Archives; and Sara Nau, who is both archivist and records manager at the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle. |
