2010 年 9 月 11 日晚上，埃塞俄比亚社区举行新年庆祝活动 (又称 Kiddus Yohannes)。埃塞俄比亚社区互助会还购买了一个社区中心，位于西雅图东南部雷尼尔比奇 (Rainier Beach) 附近的雷尼尔南大街 8323 号。大约有 1,000 人参加了此次新年庆祝活动，但是当新社区中心爆满时，近一半人因不能入内而必须离开。该社区中心是一栋大约 10,000 平方英尺的建筑物，曾经是菲斯坦普尔社区教会 (Faith Temple Community Church) 的教堂。这个中心将不仅作为居住在西雅图的 25,000 多名（截至 2010 年）埃塞俄比亚青年、父母及老人的一个聚会场所，而且将作为举办辅导课程、开展学习活动、庆祝埃塞俄比亚节日以及纪念活动的场所。
