On April 16, 1904, Taylor Post Office opens. Samuel Galloway is appointed the first postmaster. In 1904, a coal mine and clay-ware manufacturing plant opens at Taylor. On July 31, 1944, the post office closes. Taylor is located 32 miles southeast of Seattle 3.5 miles east of Hobart.
