Seattle Beginnings: Edgewater Post Office opens in Wallingford neighborhood on May 20, 1889.

On May 20, 1889, the Edgewater Post Office opens. William Ashworth is the first postmaster. The post office is located within the future city limits of Seattle near Lake Union.

It was located in today's (2000) Wallingford nieghborhood, between the future streets of Stoneway N and Carr Place N, two blocks west of Wallingford Avenue).

The post office closed on January 5, 1891.
