On January 20, 1982, Seattle's first general interest newspaper for the Chinese community, His Hua Pao or Seattle Chinese Post, appears. The Seattle Chinese Post, Inc., headed by Assunta Ng, publishes the new weekly.

Prior to 1982, Seattle's Chinese community was served by radio programs, mainly on KRAB-FM. Seattle Chinese Post was the first general interest Chinese newspaper issued in Washington. In 1985, the paper was located at 409 Maynard Avenue S. It later moved to 414 8th Avenue S, where it was still located in 2001.

In 2001, the Seattle Chinese Post "offers international and local news in Chinese to immigrants. Its sister publication, the Northwest Asian Weekly, delivers news in English to "citizens and other immigrants" (Webpage).
