On March 3, 1914, voters elect Hiram C. Gill (1866-1919) as mayor of the city of Seattle. Gill was re-elected to a second two-year term in 1916.

Pursuant to the Freeholders' Charter of 1890, the mayor's term of office was two years. Elections were held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in March. The vote counts were as follows:

Hiram C. Gill - 37,654
J.D. Trenholme - 22,918
