In 1900, according to the United States Census, the largest counties in Washington state are King County, Spokane County, Pierce County, and Whitman County. The state's largest four cities are Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, and Walla Walla. In the past decade Seattle has established itself as the dominant urban area in the state.
