Many of the Seattle baseball storylines and images on HistoryLink are provided by our resident Seattle sports historian, David Eskenazi.

A Seattle native, David has amassed an extensive archive of Seattle, Northwest, and West Coast baseball artifacts and ephemera, some of which illustrates our site. He has a keen interest in sharing stories, cataloging history and memorabilia, and expanding and enhancing his collection. David greatly enjoys sharing his experiences, collection, and zeal for Seattle baseball history. His historical showcase activities have included displays at the Museum of History and Industry, Seafirst Gallery, and Mariners Fan Fest, and annually at the P.I. Sports Star of the Year banquet. He is also actively involved with baseball themed activities and fund raising events for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, including serving on the planning committee for their annual baseball luncheon, benefiting pediatric oncology.

During 1998 and 1999, David consulted with the Seattle Mariners to create a tribute to Seattle’s rich baseball legacy in the form of seven 35 foot long historical storyboards surrounding the Safeco Field main concourse. Each display features headlines from The Seattle Times and items from David’s collection, illustrating Seattle and Washington state baseball history from 1890 to present.

The Fred Hutchinson seat end stanchions, historical photographs on the suite level, and Safeco Field inaugural game festivities were all cooperative efforts in which David assisted the Seattle Mariners.

David also provided visual materials and historical consultation for Perpetual Motion Pictures’ 75- minute documentary, The Seattle Rainiers. If you like local baseball history, you’ll love this production.
