Welcome To The Education Resource! |
February 10-16, 2011
This Week We Feature the Archive of Education Updates
Every Thursday since March 2010, a new Education Update has been posted on this page. These Updates are written to share relevant and timely history education information and to encourage students and educators to find creative ways to utilize the resources available on HistoryLink.org and its Education Resource page.
Last week, an Archive category was added to the Education Resource section located in the navigation bar in the right hand column of this page. The Archive includes most of the 40-plus Education Updates so that they can continue to provide reminders of valuable Social Studies-related projects and programs available online and to offer thought-provoking ideas for using HistoryLink.org in classroom discussions and activities.
For example, in late February last year one of the Education Updates featured Black History Month and listed resources for Washington state educators and students that focus on African American heritage. If you haven't yet visited Blackpast.org or reviewed the curriculum materials of the Seattle Civil Rights and Labor History Project or the Northwest African American Museum's, What's the Story: Past and Present, do so today. They provide resources, curriculum models, oral history selections, maps, photo collections, and other primary sources that will lead to engaging and challenging classroom activities and discussions.
